Shah Family Holiday Videos

When I was 9 years old, I began learning “Carol of the Bells” on the piano. One day while I was practicing, my father joined in on the saxophone. This moment sparked the creation of the Shah Family Holiday videos, which had been an annual tradition from 2012-2021. Each spring, my father and I would choose a holiday tune we’d like to play together. We’d come up with a unique arrangement for the piece, then send it off to a professional arranger. After we received the sheet music, we’d spend months practicing. Over the years, the production has evolved from only the two of us to around 20-30 people, including sound engineers, recording technicians, and musicians. We recorded the music and video right before the holiday season, then I would spend a few days editing the video. We’d send the video between Christmas and New Years to spread holiday love and cheer with family and friends.
